The second book in Alan Smale's Clash of Eagles Trilogy finds Marcellinus living in Cahokia after protecting his Native friends from their rivals the Iroquois at the end of book one. In hopes of ensuring a peace between the two native tribes, Marcellinus leaves to go to make a peace treaty with the Iroquois. When it fails, he rushes back home, only to discovered that he is not the only Roman solider left in Nova Hesperia. Meeting old friends and making new ones, Marcellinus tires to keep the peace between the Romans and the natives of Cahokia. However that peace is soon tested when two new threats emerge on the shores of Nova Hesperia, the return of Rome led by Ceaser and the invasion of the Mongols led by Genghis Khan.
