This is a brilliant historical text of the battles of Cryslers Farm and Chateauguay set during the forgotten War of 1812.
The book manages to be both factual and at the same time interesting to read with some sadly forgotten heroes (from the British side anyway) from the hard fighting Colonel Pearson and Colonel Morrison who put his career on the line by disobeying orders to fight the Americans with his very out-numbered force;
to the military-minded minister of Father Alexander Macdonald who had a man excommunicated for not figthing. To Charles De Salaberry (whose brother commanded the Forlorn hope at Badajoz ) who was head of the Canadian Volitegeurs, and the Glengarry Light infantry, two fine Rifle and Skirmishing regiments (the GLI wore green but carried Muskets unlike the CV who wore grey but did carry rifles) in the British Army but unlike the 95th and 60th sadly forgotten.
