I guess most of the people reading this have already read Hornblower but if you haven't I wholeheartedly recomend this book. You'll have to read the first two before this; I recomend this one because it is, in my opinion the best of the series. The book focuses on commander Horation Hornblower's first command and includes many classic adventures on the French coast. The Hornblower series was unchallenged in my list of favorites until I came across Sharpe.
