This is a brilliant book on some of the top Roman commanders that made it the empire it was. Goldsworthys clear conscise and entertaining style makes it a non put down book and shows some of the fascinating commanders Starting with Fabius who held off Hannibals onslaught through to Pompey and of course the famous and brilliant Julius Caeser through to the lesser known but equally excellent Germanicus who set out to avenge Teutonrborg forrest to the brilliant Corbulo who took on the Parthian's Romes main Rival during its history.
All in all an excellent book worth reading
