Man of War

The incredibly fascinating world of reenactors is explored by former actor and NPR contributor  Schroeder in a quest to explore history .  Along the way he takes part in a variety of eras: Viking , Roman, Nazi (!), Civil War, American Revolution, and creates his own  version of Fr Junipero Serra's walks through California.  The book is humorous and insightful, shedding light on a hobby that few of us can understand, mush less share the rigors of living in the past.  Very inteersting and sympathetic portrayal of  people who admit they may seem odd to outsiders, yet very generous in sharing their knowledge and experience. Highly recommended.
