The book is a memoir of Homer "Sonny" Hickman, who grew up in Coalwood WV during Sputnik and with his friends pursued a dream of building rockets. It is also a great story of the relationship between father and son and mother and son. I could not put the book down. It was later made into the movie, "October Sky."
