Though it's ficition, it's a very powerful book to read. It tells about the battle from several different viewpoints. Although the characters are fictional, they are essentially near or with the main people on those two bloody days. On the Union side from Prentis stand at the Hornets nest to Lew Wallace's divison trying to get to the battle and Grant's counter attack the next day. While on the Southern side, as Johnston and Beauregard at the build up to Johnston's death. With Cleburne and Forrest at Fallen Timbers.
An excellent book worth reading.
