This story is about a sailing ship with paddle power that is conveying a lot of people escaping the misery of years of failed crops mainly potatoes in Ireland.
Many are in a distressed state and can only afford to get themselves on the ship let alone eat.
They are a mixed lot with poor families to an aristocrat who is broke and being pursued by a group bent on revenge and also a criminal, now the writer takes several of these unfortunates and winds the clock back from 1847 to uncover the story leading them to the Star Of The Sea, and this visits a London prison and the pathetic life of the aristocrat, then the story goes to Ireland and uncovers the true misery of the situation which makes very interesting reading and has a lot of emotion in it which makes a good read and finally when America is reached the problem are that they are refused permission to land. To find out what happens read the book it's well worth it.
