This is one of thoses layered novels which tells the story of the area around Dublin.It follow the history of several families from the time of the Druids, through Patrick, the Vikings, the Normans and finally to the mid-1500's which means there's a lot more history to tell so I'm hoping for a second novel. The wide scope of the story gives the reader an opportunity to compare and contrast the various periods of Irish history. This is one most readers of historical fiction would enjoy.
