Taking place during the Second Afghan War, this is a novel filled with action, mystery, history, and romance. It is about Ashton (Ashok) Pelhm-Martyn, a British officer who grew up believing that he was Indian, and Anjuli, and Indian Princess who is shunned because of her being a half-caste. I recommend this book to everyone because it has something in it for everyone, from long action-packed battles, to murder mysteries, to forbidden love. M.M Kaye is an amazing author who really knows what she is writing about and has the ability to capture any reader of her novels. Although she is no longer with us, her novels will continue to enchant readers for years to come.
