great read this is.true story of Percy Fawcett's obsessive quest for the fabled city of z and the reporter David Grann's hunt for his lost remains. I'm a tough guy from nyc. ride the subways everyday. I wouldn't last a week in south america 2008. let alone early 1900's. David Grann takes you along the same paths that Fawcett traveled. some paths that haven't changed in 1000's of years. thru rainforest filled with insects that have names I can't pronounce. just reading about the torture of being in this jungle with almost nothing more than a mosquito net as protection and learning of the many diseases that they carry is enough to keep me indoors on warm summer nights. it's a great read. you will not be disappointed
