Anyone who was similarly intrigued by the waging of the secret war, and the existence of Mr Scovell in "Sword" would find this book a hive. A factual look at the life of the man himself, told in a narrative that reads like pure fiction.
BC says: "It's a terrific read - and a very good summary account of the Peninsular, but I think Mark Urban exaggerates Scovell's achievements, especially in regard to the Salamanca campaign."
