An Irish Officer in the British Army, he was a charismatic leader widely admired for his bravery in battle. He would fight numerous battles in the Napoleonic wars but it was his command of a small expeditionary force that would capture Washington that would earn him his fame or notoriety, depending on who you are, this fantastic biography portrays a fascinating but genuinely praiseworthy and fascinating man and his career before he was killed outside Baltimore. I can recommend this book it really is very good.
