A dozen or more novels -- so far -- tracing the career of Thomas Kydd, whigmaker, pressed into the Royal Navy, a "landsman", then able-seaman, and more. Kydd is roughly the same age as Richard Sharpe. As I re-read the Sharpes, beginning with "Sharpe's Tiger", I'm startled to remember David Baird...who appears in a Kydd novel about the taking of Capetown.
A fascinating series.
