It's not a historical fiction, and not a memoir of a historical person. This is a book about a bookshop and about book lovers who orbit the shop.
Shakespeare & Company is a book store in Paris, owned by George Whitman (now by his daughter, Sylvia) and it's the successor of the legendary bookstore of the same name ran by the famous Sylvia Beach.
The bookstore is not your run of the mill bookstore, but something special. It's a haven for writers (and would-be writers) and a great place for book lovers.
A beautiful prose about books, and a comfortable story about a man's sojourn in the bookstore. A short sojourn that is full of stories: love, tragedy, discord... It's a book about life.
